Cauliflower is a cruciferous vegetable. This vegetable is rich in fiber and B-vitamins. It also contains antioxidants, phytonutrients, and choline. Other nutrients of cauliflower are vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus. Cauliflower is an extremely healthy vegetable. It contains such compounds which may reduce the risk of several diseases, including heart disease and cancer. Cauliflower is also weight loss friendly and incredibly easy to add to your diet.

Digestion

Cauliflower is high in fiber and water. Fiber feeds the healthy bacteria in the gut that help reduce inflammation and promote digestive health. Both fiber and water are important for preventing constipation, maintaining and lowering the risk of colon cancer. Consumption of sufficient fiber may also help prevent diverticulitis and inflammatory bowel disease.
Studies have shown that dietary fiber may also help regulate the immune system and inflammation. As a result, it could help decrease the risk of inflammation-related conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity.
A high-fiber intake has been associated with a significantly lower risk of developing coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and gastrointestinal diseases
A higher fiber intake appears to help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, improve insulin sensitivity, and enhance weight loss for people with obesity.

Cancer

Cauliflower contains antioxidants. These antioxidants aid in preventing cellular mutations and in reducing oxidative stress from free radicals. Indole-3-carbinol, an antioxidant commonly found in cruciferous vegetables, reduces the risk of breast and reproductive cancers in men and women. Sulforaphane compound of cauliflower helps fight different types of cancers such as colon and prostate cancers.

Bones

Cauliflower contains vitamin K, which improves calcium absorption and prevents excretion of calcium in the urine. Calcium improves bone health and prevents osteoporosis.

Memory

Choline content of cauliflower helps in muscle movement, sleeping, learning, and improving memory. Structure of cellular membranes and transmission of nerve impulses are also maintained to a great extent by the presence of choline. Choline also helps in the absorption of fat and reduces chronic inflammation.

Heart

Fiber content of cauliflower reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. People taking calcium supplements are at a risk of calcium deposition in the blood vessels. Vitamin K prevents this by helping in the process of absorption of calcium. Sulforaphane content of cauliflower reduces high blood pressure and keeps arteries healthy.
